Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Demo 01 E-books Portal handles information in connection with university accounts, registered campus networks and digital-library services.
Information Held by the Portal
- Institution details: university name, library name, address where supplied, logo and account settings.
- Contact and account details: designated contact names, mobile numbers, email addresses and usernames. Account passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable text.
- Access records: registered university IP addresses and the e-books assigned to each institution.
- Enquiries: information you provide when contacting us, including your contact details and message.
- Technical information: the service receives connection information such as your IP address and browser request details. Session records may include an IP address, browser information and session activity.
Why Information Is Used
Institutional and contact information supports account administration, collection assignment, network registration and responses to enquiries. Technical and session information supports website operation, account security and troubleshooting.
Campus IP Authentication
The portal is designed to match a visitor’s connection IP address with registered university addresses when campus authentication is enabled. This identifies the associated institution and its available collection. A shared campus IP address does not, by itself, identify an individual student. Institutional network records are managed separately by your university.
Cookies and Sessions
The website uses session cookies to maintain website state and support functions such as sign-in and form security. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking them may prevent some functions from working. This policy does not imply that individual reading-history tracking is enabled.
Access to Information
Authorised portal administrators use institutional records to manage the service. Service providers involved in hosting, maintenance or support may process information as needed to operate those services. Information may also need to be disclosed to meet a legal obligation or address a security incident. Your university may need relevant details to resolve an institutional access enquiry.
Retention
Retention depends on the purpose of each record: administering an institution’s account, maintaining access settings, resolving enquiries, investigating security issues and meeting applicable recordkeeping obligations. Contact us for information about retention or deletion of a particular record.
Security
Administrative access controls and password hashing help protect account records. Keep institutional credentials confidential and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access. No online service can guarantee complete security.
Your Information and Requests
Contact us to ask about information held about you, request a correction or request deletion. Requests are assessed according to applicable law and any obligations to retain records. We may need to verify your identity or authority to act for an institution. Contact your university separately about records it holds.
External Services and Policy Changes
External websites linked from the portal have their own privacy practices. We may update this policy as services or information-handling practices change and will publish the current version on this page.
